The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with 1.6 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people.
Rooted in faith and driven by charity, Knights of Columbus Council #1185 is a devoted brotherhood of Catholic men serving De Soto and the surrounding community. Guided by the timeless principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism, our council carries forward the vision of Blessed Father Michael J. McGivney and the global Knights of Columbus.
While the Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 in New Haven, Connecticut, Council #1185 was formally chartered in the early 20th century as part of the Order’s expansion into Missouri. From its beginnings, our council brought Catholic men of De Soto together in fellowship and service, supporting parish families and community causes during times of both prosperity and hardship. Generations of members have passed down this commitment, building a legacy of faith in action.
Over the decades, Council #1185 has become a cornerstone of De Soto fellowship and outreach, known for organizing impactful faith-inspired events that uplift both parish and community:
Our impact blends both spiritual and tangible outreach: supporting parish life, aiding families in need, assisting seniors and individuals with disabilities, and contributing to civic initiatives. Each Car Show, Fish Fry, Golf Tournament, and parish event strengthens our mission to serve God by serving others—and ensures the proud tradition of Catholic knighthood continues in De Soto for generations to come.
To uphold the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism, delivering meaningful support to our members and the wider community. Our work is led by our foundational values of integrity, professionalism, and respect.
We are Catholic men who lead, serve, protect and defend. We share a desire to be better husbands, fathers, sons, neighbors and role models and to put charity and community first.
